A junctional escape beat is a delayed heartbeat that occurs when "the rate of an AV junctional pacemaker exceeds that of the sinus node."[2] Junctional Rhythms are classified according to their rate: junctional escape rhythm has a rate of 40-60 bpm, accelerated junctional rhythm has a rate of 60-100 bpm, and junctional tachycardia has a rate greater than 100 bpm.[2]
